FINAL NOTES ON MAZIAR'S MEMORIAL
(Refresh your browser each time you check in to make sure you have the latest news.)
Despite everyone's best intentions, the music schedule will be fluid today. Other than the first two musicians, the guitarist and cellist,
who are to go on at 3:30 and 3:45 (but probably won't) all others must be ready to play based on the lineup listed below.
The only thing I can ALMOST guarantee is that music starts at 3:30 and that Edvin needs to leave by 5:45.
NOTE:
Despite what we all envision, this will not be a concert until Tracy and Edvin sing - It will be musicians onstage playing while people on the floor are ignoring them and talking to each other.
Probably, the only time people will listen is during speeches and during Tracy and then Edvin's songs.
I'm saying this based on the hundreds of events I've been a part of over the years.
I have a gig tonight. I must leave by 6:30. If we're behind schedule, I won't sing my song.

who are to go on at 3:30 and 3:45 (but probably won't) all others must be ready to play based on the lineup listed below.
- While one act is onstage, the other should be preparing to go onstage.
- If there is a speaker giving a speech, begin preparing your instruments while they are speaking.
- Don't disappear. Make sure everyone knows where you are.
- If you aren't there or aren't ready, the next act will go on and you can go on later.
The only thing I can ALMOST guarantee is that music starts at 3:30 and that Edvin needs to leave by 5:45.
- Tracy is scheduled to go on around 4:45. (This is a proposed time. I can't guarantee it.)
- Edvin can stay as late as 5:45 and then must leave. He will go on when Tracy is finished, whenever that is.
NOTE:
Despite what we all envision, this will not be a concert until Tracy and Edvin sing - It will be musicians onstage playing while people on the floor are ignoring them and talking to each other.
Probably, the only time people will listen is during speeches and during Tracy and then Edvin's songs.

Hello Guys,
Tracy had asked me to help out with the organization of music for the memorial following the burial on Saturday, April 7. So as a professional musician who has played and organized hundreds of events, it seemed that I would be likely to know what questions to ask when talking to the Newport Dunes event management team.
Daroush and I were there with Tracy, her friend and the event staff on Monday, April 2
The sound man, KYLE, has a concert PA set up already. The PA is the appropriate size for the room, which is a very large white tent.
AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT:
OTHER THINGS
PARKING
For the Cemetary: I will have a reserved spot. If you plan on going, we may be able to get more spaces, or we can carpool.
For the Memorial: We can park behind the tent near the stage. There is a door leading to the stage.
ARRIVAL TO THE TENT
PROPOSED SCHEDULE
Singers and their accompaniment :
NOTE: This is not an open-to-the-public jam session. It is invitation-only.
This is the list Daroush gave me today, Monday, April 2
Mehrah (Miraj) - voice only
Amir - voice and git
Morad - voice and git
Shahin - voice and git
Reza - tar/Daf and voice
Lou - piano and voice
Kaveh (2) - voice, git and backing track (He has his own wireless mic for git)
Musicians - This is the list that PJ's wife compiled on Saturday at the Mafi's house on Saturday, March 31.
Daroush - Electric Piano
Kaveh (Kevin) - Cajon
PJ: Percussion
Morad : Gitar/ Kaveh
Payman : Percusion / Conga/ Bangos
George : Gitar Is Solo
Amir : Gitar/ Singer/Payman & Dariush & Kaveh
Mehraj: Singer / Payman and Dariush
I suppose you can decide among yourselves which order you want to perform. We can sort that out on the day-of.
We may want to have recorded Iranian background music to play over the PA so that the musicians don't run out of songs.
NOTE: Tracy has specifically asked that there be NO music recordings with Maziar's singing voice because it will likely cause her great stress and discomfort.
This is an incomplete summary, so please check back here for updates as I get them. Contact me if you need something posted here.
Thanks,
Lou
