The odd occurrence was mirrored by a similar event over 3000 miles away. In Los Angeles, an American Airlines Boeing 767 apparently rolled away from its location and crashed through a fence onto a nearby service road at LAX, Los Angeles International Airport. There were no injuries. LAX spokespersons have no explanation as to why the jet wandered off on its own. The engine was not running and it was not occupied at the time. "It just seems to have rolled away, " airport spokespersons said. In an eerily coincidental event, the Space Shuttle Columbia rolled off its pad, across several hundred yards of swamp and across several streets before ending up in the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Canaveral in Florida. There were no occupants on board that craft either. No one was hurt in the incident. In a possibly related but equally uncanny event, the Empire State Building was found in Lake Chautauqua in northwestern New York State. Authorities are doubly perplexed since the American Airlines Jet and the Space Shuttle were found so close to nearby water sources. "Lake Chautauqua is hundreds of miles away from the Atlantic Ocean." Says 3rd Grade Geography teacher, Phillip Hall of of nearby Jamestown, New York. Others agree.
