German Scientists Develop 3D Glasses for Everyday Use

A group researchers in Baden-Baden Germany have developed a a type of 3D glasses that they claim can be used for everyday uses such a shopping, driving, dining, sky diving, etc. The researchers claim that the glasses will look like standard glasses, virtually indistinguishable from normal glasses. The only difference is that they will allow users to experience life in enhanced 3D as opposed to their normal field of vision.

"In the case of reading for example," say Dr. Rolf Koepf, "you will be able to hold a book on your lap while reading it and sense the 3-dimensionality of it, its curves, its shape and so on. You will be able to see that objects behind the book look smaller, and objects in front of the book look larger unlike the standard 2-dimensional experience you'd have reading on a laptop or a Kindle. You'll also be able to sense the fragrance of the book which is not possible with normal reading glasses."

A true 3D experience, they say, is years in the coming. The projected price of the revolutionary new glasses will be in the range of $999 to $1999 to give affordability options to potential users. There will also be a version available for students and toddlers. "The price will likely come down as the product gains popularity," says Dr. Koepf. Models will also be available in a blended bifocal configuration.
